Parking was a critical issue in the development of the Country Music Hall of Fame in
downtown Nashville. In 1998, RPM Transportation Consultants conducted parking studies
for the project to determine on-site parking needs as required in Metro Nashville's
Zoning Ordinance. RPM's parking analysis included an extensive inventory of public
parking in the vicinity of the site and the projected peak parking demand expected from
the Hall of Fame. The RPM parking study showed that the on-site parking proposed for
the Hall of Fame, together with available public parking within walking distance of the
site would be more than enough to meet parking demands. The study also included
analysis of the impacts of a new hotel and parking garage that were planned for
construction across the street from the Hall of Fame. Finally, RPM successfully
coordinated the necessary traffic and parking-related approvals with Metro agencies,
including those from the Metro Board of Zoning Appeals.
